In April 2026, David Swicegood of 7Lift.ai spoke to the Spokane Association for Mortgage Professionals in Spokane, addressing about 50 leaders from banking, real estate, and title on practical AI for operator-led businesses.

The Audience

The room was made up of mortgage lenders, bankers, real estate brokers and agents, and title and escrow professionals from across the Spokane metro. These are businesses that run on documents, phone calls, and deadlines, where a missed follow-up or a slow file costs real money.

What the Session Covered

  1. Start with the leak, not the technology. The first question is not "what can AI do" but "where are we losing hours or revenue today." Missed calls, manual data entry, and slow document turnaround are the usual answers in lending, real estate, and title.
  2. Measure what the problem costs. Put a dollar figure on the leak before building anything. The money to pay for a working system is usually already being spent on the problem.
  3. Automate assembly, not judgment. AI is well suited to gathering documents, drafting standard communications, and summarizing files. Credit decisions, compliance calls, and client advice stay with people.
  4. Keep client data out of public tools. Borrower and transaction information belongs in private, governed systems, not in consumer chat products.
  5. Ship a working system in weeks. A simple agent or automation typically ships in 2 to 3 weeks; a larger dashboard or multi-agent system takes 4 to 8 weeks. Pilots prove value before anything scales.
  6. Own the result. Every system is handed off to the business, with documentation and training, so the team is not dependent on a vendor to keep it running.
